Rapid Assessment of the Socio-economic Effects of COVID-19 on Businesswomen in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area of Uganda

The study intended to investigate vulnerabilities due to Covid-19
of businesswomen in the Kampala metropolitan area and the
efficacy of the coping mechanism used. Specific objective
included.

  • How Covid-19 and the government responses impacted on

wellbeing (stress, anxiety, confidence, GBV), income and
livelihood of the businesswomen.

  • How the pandemic affected gender roles and subsequently

distribution of unpaid care work?

  • What coping mechanisms were used by businesswomen and

their efficacy – increased unpaid care work, increased cost of
doing business, reduced revenues?
